~ ~ ~Riding the wave~ ~ ~

(excuse the gushiness about to ensue...it's 3am, I just got home from a really fantastic birth, and I need to process/bask in the glow of the universe smiling on me...)

I love this feeling.
Indescribable and giddy awe at the honour of attending births. It is important to me that I never forget that feeling...never forget that every birth I attend is not just simply a birth. It's an invitation to watch a soul cross earthside and be intimately involved in a life changing experience in someone's life. I watch men and women become parents...I help them traverse that road that forever changes every thing about who they are and what they become. It reminds me of that Johnson's baby lotion ad that ends with the quote, "Having a baby changes everything.". The first time I saw that ad it really struck me in the gut...what a true statement. Having a baby really, profoundly does change everything.

I attended a birth tonight in the same hospital room that I had Faeryn in. I haven't been in that room since the wee hours of the morning my faery baby was born. Talk about surreal! Everywhere I turned I was reminded with small flashes of the things that went on that crazy morning. It was also beautiful to share a little snippet of my life with my client's in a roundabout way...funny how we attach feelings to random things like hospital rooms. I never anticipated that happening, actually...but I guess it makes sense.

Amazing how an evening can be auspicious and mundane at the same time. It's just a regular Saturday night/Sunday morning, but it's also the birth day of another human being.

There's one of my own little human beings now...goodnight!

Anticlimax

Finally, finally I got my coveted digital SLR camera!!!!!! I am so freaking stoked!! Yay for birthday money :D I have taken copious amounts of pictures already and will share them tonight when I get a chance to upload them.
YAY!

This is an awesome awesome blog. I have been lucky and my body has bounced back very well from both my pregnancies, but I love the empowering nature of this blog. I think it's so important to try to accept ourselves as much as we can how we are in the present while striving to make positive changes (emotionally, physically or spiritually) at the same time.
